Quantum Dynamics and Spectroscopy of Functional Molecular Materials and Biological Photosystems

Krishna P. Siwakoti, Stephanie C.G. Migoni and Arunjyoti Baidya attended the Winter School on “Quantum dynamics and Spectroscopy of functional molecular material and biological photosystem” from 23 to 28 Feb, 2025 held in École de Physique des Houches, Les Houches, France. Krishna presented a presentation on “Theory of charge transfer states and primary electron transfer in open and closed reaction centres of Photosystem II” sowing his latest discoveries.

The school successfully brought together a community of leading spectroscopists and theorists to examine recent progress and outline future directions in the study of energy and charge transfer within biomolecular systems and functional materials. A central theme was the correspondence between spectroscopic observables and quantum simulations, which was explored through discussions and presentations on state-of-the-art time-resolved spectroscopies. Particular emphasis was placed on emerging two-dimensional electronic–vibrational methodologies, single-molecule techniques, and femtosecond X-ray transient spectroscopies.
